BBQ. BEER. ALL. DAY.
Driving through six states for a party could be seen as extreme. OK. Maybe the word should is more appropriate. We get that. 900 miles is a long way to go. Unless the party’s really great. And unless the people you meet are equally wonderful. So, with that in mind, was the Salt & Smoke road trip to Baton Rouge worth it? Check and check.
It was a perfect Louisiana day by all measures. Well over 200 people joined us at Tin Roof Brewing Co. in downtown Baton Rouge. I think the sky was a perfect Carolina blue just for us. It seemed that everyone left with one of our temporary pig tattoos on every limb imaginable. Kids danced to the music. The beer was delicious. And the people of Louisiana – who know a thing or two about oysters – couldn’t stop raving about the Shooting Point oysters that we brought from the Eastern Shore of Virginia.
And, oh, they loved the pig. LOVED it. Not that anyone should be surprised. Delicious is delicious. And Baton Rouge is not afraid of delicious. Or a good time. All of us at Salt & Smoke can’t wait to do it again.
